ANALYSIS of HEART DRAWING

The drawing represents exactly what his signature and his behavior represented. The left vertical third represents his past, the middle vertical third represents “today” and the right vertical third represents society. At the time he drew this picture, he felt inferior in his past (the hump on the upper left is lower than the hump on the upper right). He is reaching out to society, grabbing people in society and taking them down with him (the final stroke of the heart shape comes downward from the upper right corner and ends where the entrance of the past begins (lower left)). The ‘death by x’ is seen in several places: the first ‘x’ is on the middle of the top of the heart which shows his obsession over his own death. Next we see an ‘x’ in the upper third of the horizontal grid indicating his thoughts about death (his own and / or others). Then we see an ‘x’ in the lower left third of the horizontal grid which indicates his physical drive and desire to commit the acts he is thinking about. Finally – the cross itself is a large ‘x’ and appears in the middle of the grid indicating “today”, “now” or “soon” – meaning his desires to kill are becoming closer to actually occurring. In addition, there are hooks or ‘tic marks’ and clubbed (extra thick) endings on the cross which shows anger and brutality. Notice the eyes appear on the actual line. This indicates that he knows exactly what he is doing or planning. That same line is the boundary between thoughts and reality. What he is thinking is his reality. Finally, the pressure is significantly thicker on the left and bottom of the heart shaped. This further shows his aggression that initiated in the past and his physical aggression that finishes by physical means (the act of killing).

ANALYSIS of “88” DRAWING

Clearly these are ropes – weapons – that are used to restrict another person or persons (such as hangman’s noose, lasso, binding, etc.) The top of the “88” is smallest which represents his mind – his thoughts. The lower portion of the “88” is largest which represents his physical aggression. Because the top is smaller than the bottom of the “88” this indicates he could no longer mentally control his physical aggression or urges. Now let’s look for
confirmation of his “death by x”. You will notice there are many x’s in this drawing. There is an x in the top middle and bottom middle which represents obsession in the mind (top x) and physical aggression (bottom x). In the very middle grid there are many – representing obsession with death in “today” or the “here and now”. Again – this is his reality and both pictures depict his plan and this tragic event.
