NEBRASKA MALL SHOOTER – Robert Hawkins
December 7, 2007

In the writing samples of Robert we see several indications of both violence potential and suicidal tendencies. When we ‘stack’ these together the actions are inevitable.
Starting on the top left with the personal pronoun ‘I’ (PPI) --- the top cross-bar is female, the bottom cross-bar is male. Three different things are represented in this letter…. parental figures (mom and dad), friends or other people in our life (males and females) and finally ourselves (if we are female then the top represents us and vice versa for the male). Looking at his PPI then we will see how he has severe anger at a father figure, male friend and / or himself (bottom cross –bar makes a ‘t’ which indicates anger). On ALL of his PPI’s there is anger represented (the method mentioned above as well as little ‘hooks’ which also indicate anger). We also see anger at females (such as mother-figure and / or girlfriend) but not nearly as amplified as anger at the male gender.
Additionally we see the excessively large spaces between the words indicating that he does not trust anyone and does not want anyone around him during this time… he feels completely alone in his world.
We then notice his predominantly vertical slant which indicates that he will be logical about it and non-emotional… he will not allow anyone to know or suspect that he is planning any portion of this… or even that he has these tendencies.

Also seen repeatedly is the wavy baseline indicating his mood swings indicated by waviness in the baseline. Notice that the more he talks about himself at a deeper level… the more wavy the lines become and the more the PPI’s show anger at himself).
There are anger hooks in many random areas showing that he has not dealt with the anger that has been clogging his subconscious.
We also notice there are weapons in his writing… notice that many upper loops (i.e.: the ‘d’ in ‘good’ above) appear to be knife blades. The rule of thumb is this “if it looks like it can hurt you… it probably can”. You will notice inappropriate x’s as well indicating what I call “Death by X”… (i.e.: the ‘k’ in ‘take’ and the ‘t’ in ‘the’ above). Anytime inappropriate x’s show up it can indicate someone who is thinking of death… usually someone else’s and this indicates that he could commit a heinous crime and justify it but not show any remorse. Hint: turn the samples upside down and look for inappropriate x’s and weapons.
We also see that he was suicidal based on the letters in several words falling off rightward (ie: the ‘s’ in ‘this’, the ‘g’ in meaningless’ and the ‘e’ in ‘the’ to name a few). The more of these identified, the more heavy the suicidal thoughts are on the individual’s mind. I’d like to see a few samples going back some times (a minimum of 2 years) and watch the ‘progression’ of it as I’m sure it’s there.

In his signature we notice that he crosses himself out… the horizontal line going across it indicates he has already illuminated himself. In addition you will notice the underline is a huge knife blade pointing toward the right (society) and in the lower zone (under the word) which represents physical aggression / death.
While this is a very short profile, it is my professional opinion that he would have committed suicide anyway… but the question remains… why did he take innocent people with him?
In my opinion the answer to that question is in the PPI’s… his hatred for both men and women (as symbols of the people he has upset and who have perhaps shunned him). He had not been noticed by anyone other than mom and that was not enough… (i.e.: she had to because she was my mom). After years of loneliness, now was his time to be noticed… and he was.
